Firm Legacy

Following in the Footsteps…
The Pinkerton family has a long and highly regarded history in American law enforcement. Chad Pinkerton, founder of The Pinkerton Law Firm, PLLC, proudly follows in the footsteps of a family of leaders in justice.

Allen Pinkerton, a direct ancestor of Chad Pinkerton, was born August 25, 1819 in Glasgow, Scotland. He and his wife, Joan Pinkerton, immigrated to the United States where they arrived on March 14, 1842.

Allen and his wife made their way to Chicago where Allen found work in a brewery and as a barrel-maker. In 1846, Allan and Joan's first son William Pinkerton was born. Two years later, a second son Robert followed.

Allen's father had worked in law enforcement, and Allen eventually followed in his father's footsteps to become the Deputy Sheriff of Chicago. In 1852, Allen formed the first detective agency in the United States, The Pinkerton Detective Agency.

The Pinkerton Detective Agency worked fast to solve a series of high-profile robberies within its first few years of existence and, in 1861, was given the task of guarding Abraham Lincoln. While serving as Lincoln's security, the agency foiled a plot to assassinate the President while he was on his way to his inauguration. Allen Pinkerton subsequently became the head of the United States Secret Service during the Civil War.

After the Civil War, the American frontier became a haven for criminals, murderers, and thieves, and the Pinkerton Detective Agency was hired to track some of America's most wanted outlaws, including Frank and Jesse James, the Reno Brothers, the Wild Bunch (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid), the Younger Gang, and the Hole-In-The-Wall Gang.

The Pinkerton Detective Agency continued to thrive in America as a security and private investigation service through the 19th and 20th centuries. In July of 2003, Securitas AB acquired the agency to make it Securitas Security Services USA, Inc., creating one of the largest security companies in the world.

Chad Pinkerton, founder of The Pinkerton Law Firm, PLLC, is proud to walk in these large footsteps in his efforts to carry forward the Pinkerton tradition. The Pinkerton Law Firm, PLLC aggressively seeks justice for those who have been wronged.

The Pinkerton Detective Agency logo was an eye embellished with the words, "We Never Sleep." The Pinkerton Law Firm, PLLC embraces that motto and will not sleep until your case is successfully resolved.
